BUILD WITH
STEEL

WHEN BUILDING QUALITY IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE.

When building quality is of paramount importance, designers choose a structural steel framing system. Steel is customized for specific jobs in a fabrication shop, where tight tolerances are maintained due to a precisely controlled environment. The industry continues to advance innovations in equipment and internal quality control programs which closely monitor layout, cutting, fitting, welding, bolting, painting/galvanizing and shipping. Today’s modern steel mills have implemented sophisticated technology and automated systems designed to increase efficiency, protect worker safety, and reduce emissions. (1)

SAFETY

Steel systems provide buildings that are structurally
sound and are designed to control the amount of horizontal sway or drift a structure might encounter throughout its lifetime. After an extreme event such as storm or earthquake, the adaptability of steel allows for rapid completion of critical repairs.

RESILIENCE

Of all framing system materials, steel is the most resilient. It leads in strength (typically 50,000 psi in both tension and compression with higher strengths available), elasticity (29,000 psi), durability, non-combustibility and resistance to decomposition. (3)

SUSTAINABILITY

Domestically produced and fabricated structural steel is on average 93% recycled content and can be reused and repurposed without the need for recycling. The steel bars used in reinforced concrete consist of nearly 100% recycled material. (4)

COST &
CONSTRUCTABILITY

Locally sourced, American-made steel can drastically increase sustainability, reduce transportation emissions, increase jobsite efficiency, and promote high-paying American jobs. Domestic production and fabrication capacity are available to meet current demand and any anticipated market growth. (5)
